Lovely to extend the goal difference at the end, but Walton keeps us in the game at crucial moments.

Wonder how Fat Frank will react to “should’ve been off” ideas over Hirst. First half an hour aside Coventry didn’t do enough to beat us and were far too open.

Very good second half and acctually also last 10 of first half. Many positives to take from this game. Walton and clean sheat. O'shea and Kipre partnership. Egeli great game and a goal again. Hirst and Azon scored again. Nunez very good. So pleased.

A big save from him in the first half. It was a pacey, passed effort from Eccles(?) from beyond the D, which was directed slightly closer to the centre of the goal than to the far post. Walton needs to sort his feet and get a strong hand, not simple, but we'd mostly be frustrated had it gone in.

A big save from him in the second half. Rudoni telegraphs his shot and Walton does well to anticipate it. I don't wish to underplay his performance - excellent game Walton. Coventry will go plenty more games without scoring this season if that's all they produce on goal though (sure this wasn't their normal output), because half the time keepers would save both efforts.*

*Maybe a third of the time rather than half. They didn't batter the goal anyway, which I thought they might.

I think once we took our goal it took the wind out of them. We hadn’t looked very threatening, possibly overplayed it and then bang it skips in from Egeli and they seemed to deflate and play into our hands.

That’s the best thing about today, we’ve not just been undone by low blocks despite it becoming received wisdom, but we also took coventrys high line and exploited it by going direct. Once that got Hirst through and he fluffed it we didn’t abandon it and got our just desserts.

We tried to play with more tempo throughout. Our passing first half was poor and from 20-35 we were outclassed. Some sustained pressure got us the goal and second half was so much better as the spaces opened up and a lull from us after the 2nd goal apart, the tempo was good. Walton with two game saving stops deserves lots of credit. Cov were always going to pose a threat but that was the best all round performance of the season. Whilst Hirst was pretty awful first half, a few passes in behind for him to run on to will have built his confidence I hope. Nunez, Azor, Kipre, O'Shea and Davis were immense. Walle-Egeli and Taylor were good and Philogene was exceptional tracking back. Subs decent too. Great to see a performance after so must frustration.
