He’s got a totally different ideology of what he’s supposed to have. And he gets elected because so many people have come in. They vote for him now because you know, it’s like … it’s uh, one of those things. But I hate what’s happened to London, and I hate what’s happened to Paris. I hate when I see it."

| Not much mention of Trump confirming on 16:03 - Dec 10 by itfcjoe | I'd say Trump is in everything for the money, to close a deal, to 'win', whereas Russia and China are strategic long term players....bringing down the West isn't a Russian objective, it's part of their raison d'etre and everything falls in around that at all times. Trump sees Putin as what he thinks he is, a guy with both power and money, not adverse to an old shakedown...but doesn't realise that the money is just a by product of the power, where for Trump money is the end goal. |
Russian objectives have changed since the fall of the old Soviet Union. Putin isn't much more of a Communist than Trump. He would like to rebuild the old Russian Empire (hence Ukraine) as this makes Russian stronger against what he sees as a weak, divided Europe with an increasingly reluctant protector in the USA.

There is another element to this. Russia is economically not that large. It has geared its economy for war. It needs territory for its economy and prestige. Hitler did too. Germany was bankrupt by 1941 and an unsustainable war was continued by conquer, pillaging of assets including people as slaves. Does anyone seriously see Putin as so different?

Great riposte to Trump and the narrative in the right wing media about crime in London, which many in this country believe. In an interview last month with GB News, Trump claimed that there were areas in the capital that were no-go areas for the police, and he claimed sharia law applied there too. He even said the same thing in a speech to the UN in September. Rowley said: "There’s no no-go areas, that’s completely false. How anybody in America can suggest the UK is violent is completely ridiculous. The homicide rate in London is lower than every single US state. It’s lower than all their big cities. The murder rate in New York last time I looked is three or four times higher than London per capita. The homicide rate in London is lower than it is in Toronto, it’s lower than Paris, it’s lower than Brussels, it’s lower than Berlin. This is a safe city. I’m not going to pretend it’s perfect. This trend of trying to rubbish London, some of which is driven by politics, we who are proud Londoners need to fight back about it." Rowley did not specifically talk about Khan, saying he did not want to intervene in a dispute between two politicians.

Russia is certainly suffering from military overreach, and that's from trying to conquer it's much weaker neighbour. Germany had conquered most of Western Europe before they found themselves in that position. I don't think they're that much alike at all. Putin is trying to reassert Russian control in what has traditionally been its sphere of influence, and making a real hash of it. [Post edited 12 Dec 15:22]

Saw a social media thread on this earlier. The number of people actively suggesting the figures shouldn't be believed and trump is right, was deeply troubling. Along with the huge number arguing that America is bigger so would expect larger figures, when they are all per capita... Social media power over un inquisitive and unintelligent people could be western civilisations downfall very soon.
