| Haaland 18:30 - Dec 13 with 620 views | Chris_ITFC | up front for us today would’ve made very little difference. Sometimes, maybe - but not today. No support No service No midfield creativity No through balls No balls in behind No runners in behind No one-twos No dangerous crosses No one in the vicinity No plan Sure, maybe he has limitations, but: - he never has any team mates anywhere near him - they constantly turn down opportunities to cross - if he somehow predicts when they will, he’s completely outnumbered in the box, as the opposite winger has no interest in heading it - and if you think the crossing is bad, wait till you see the creativity from the midfield. | |

Thought it was pretty obvious tbh - Egeli.

| Haaland on 20:24 - Dec 13 with 467 views | blueoutlook | This all happens far too often, not just today. Even against Coventry and Stoke we just looked plain ordinary for long periods of those games. We need a couple of players with steel and drive in the team. We simply haven’t got that drive. | | | |

Not really. Neither of us mentioned him.

Indeed - but that says far more about the rest of the team than it does the #9, a la my OP.

We need a more creative central midfielder imho Matusiwa is protecting and provides some simple passes, but so is Taylor. Cajuste was the man but for whatever reason looks way off it. Someone who can play and receive under high pressure, beat a man. We don’t have that centrally. Someone like Enciso in the 10 would help as well.

It's a comparative reference to Hirst.

When I said Haaland, I meant Haaland.

This. As poor as Azon was in the first half against Stoke, in the second half we looked much better precisely because he started linking play up when the ball came into him.

He did. He was looking much more mobile laterally, playing off the CBs shoulders rather than just standing in front of him.

I can’t even find it now! Anyway, I still think we missed Egeli due to his qualities that I listed above.
