YOUR team to play Sheffield Wednesday. Not the team you believe McKenna will play. The one you would pick for this game, and your reasoning behind it.

Walton
Young*
O'Shea
Greaves**
Davis
Nunez***
Cajuste****
Sindre
Szmodics*****
Jaden
Hirst

*A must win game. Young offers far more than Furlong going forward. Not a game for us to be defensive.

**Kipre has been great but Greaves is an £18million signing warming the bench. We have to give him minutes.

***Taylor was great when he came back into the team. His energy and commitment were just what we needed. But recently he's shown why he rarely got a start since signing from Peterborough. I want to see Nunez doing what Hayden Hackney does for Boro. His stats were second only to Hackney in that roile last season.

**** 1) Matusiwa needs a rest. 2) If Matusiwa picks up a booking on Saturday he misses Millwall and Coventry. 3) If we can't beat Sheffield Wednesday without our defensive midfielder then we shouldn't even be talking about promotion.

*****Szmodics adds a bit of fight and bite in the number ten role. Simple as.

Feel free to agree or disagree.

Agree with every word, and every position.

It's possible that Taylor is just mediocre, and has had a couple of good games. But I think assuming that based on one bad game is unfair. Also, I'm far from sure that Cajuste has done enough to wrestle the starting position off Taylor. I don't think Young is a seriously credible option in CM. That might just leave Nunez as a rival for Taylor in CM, but I think Nunez has to start in the 10. If he doesn't, then I'm not picking SS or Akpom to start, as they just haven't done enough. And picking Egeli at 10, which I'd be really interested in, would be fine if we had a 2021-23 vintage Wes Burns on the right. But I ain't picking McAteer to start on the right, even though he literally cost over a billion pence.

So, sad indictment or otherwise, Taylor should start.

Matusiwa starts if available. I think that's clear. On the back of a performance and result like Leicester, we can't afford to be so arrogant that we can rest players and still get a guaranteed 3 points against any side. Wednesday are poor, but they've still got some fight. And we know that a freak goal can happen at any turn, when there are players with talent, and Wednesday do have a couple. We must play our best team.

Wouldn't be averse to swapping out Furlong for Young if he's showing it in training, but on balance I would keep the ground together. Kipre has earned the starting spot, in my view. Regardless of Greaves' cost, he has not performed as well. I think it's that clear. Nothing against the guy.

Walton had a clanger against Leicester. Any keeper is capable of that, and entitled to that if their work is otherwise sound. His stats this season are streets ahead of Palmer, and indeed most Champ keepers. There's no way he gets dropped for that. Clearly a good apple as well. If that's a saying. Which it's not.

Dropping Taylor isn't based on one bad game He was hauled off at half time against Blackburn. e was woeful in that game. He's been pretty much hit and miss for a few weeks now.

My only reservation about the team in the OP is Greaves for Kipfre.

It's should win, not must win.

Walton
Furlong O'Shea Kipre Davis
Matusiwa Cajuste
McAteer Akpom Clarke
Hirst

Don't see why you'd drop Kipre just so you can give Greaves minutes. He's not a striker who needs confidence and minutes. He'll be used when needed, but so far he's not been as good as Kipre.

McAteer, Akpom and Clarke are different cases. They all need some confidence. I am a little uneasy about changing the entire three though.

Azon is similar in needing to be played into form, but if I'm changing the three behind the striker then I'd stick with Hirst. Azon hasn't been good enough when called upon to start, frankly. Worse than the other attackers I've mentioned I'd argue.

We shouldn't need Taylor's bite and intensity. More likely to need Cajuste's creativity and ability to beat players.

If he plays Mcateer, Akpom and Clarke behind Hirst we deserve to lose and he will deserve all the criticism he gets. That's utterly honking.

I honestly hope we never ever see Akpom in the 10 again. You may as well just send out 10 players instead.

It's must win if we want to keep our top 2 hopes realistically alive and don't want to be under big pressure at Millwall/Cov in the two games after. We need to pick our best team and get it won. It's a game that we could make difficult for ourselves if we start slowly and things aren't clicking.

Absolutely agree with this, Sheff Weds at home is a must win. Fail to win and not only is it a huge blow to automatic promotion hopes but I also think you'll see a chunk of the fanbase turning and things becoming poisonous.

Go strong, get the goals, make changes
