Modern football is crap, part 697352 08:21 - Dec 21 with 1917 viewsnoggin

I realise everyone does it now, but I really dislike seeing Town players feigning injury, looking for fouls at every opportunity or trying to influence officials. Shithousey was always something foreign teams did.
Oh and Merry Christmas to you and your families. Up the Town!

Poll: If KM goes now, will you applaud him when he returns with his new club?

Exceptions happen - but in the main, football in the 70s and 80s was hoofball and thuggish. And the fans were just a bunch of Neanderthals as well.

The irony of this post.

There was trouble of course and it was ‘the hooliganism era’ but I don’t remember any trouble in the Churchmans in the very late 70s and 80s. I don’t angry blokes abusing our own players either, but I’ve got a crap memory. I saw a few scraps outside the ground though.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Yes, I started watching Town regularly in 1972, partly because my parents reckoned Ipswich was fairly safe for a 14 year old to go to games on their own. I usually stood on Churchmans where I never saw any trouble, although you had to watch yourself outside the ground & more particularly, at the station & on the trains, especially if we were playing a London club. All part of the learning experience of life, I guess.

There was definitely trouble with West Ham and Norwich fans during that timeframe inside Churchmans. Got smacked both times just for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
