23/24 was a significant outlier, which makes comparisons with it distorted. This season's points distribution is what a 'normal' Championship has looked like at this point over the past 15 years. |
That’s not really true, our current points total after 23 games would have seen us placed lower in the table in each of the past 5 seasons:
2024/25 - 6th
2023/24 - 5th
2022/23 - 4th
2021/22 - 5th
2020/21 - 6th (but with Watford and Boro both <3pts behind and a game in hand)
Not unreasonable to point out that the Championship looks to be weaker than usual this year, at least in terms of standout teams |  |

That's probably because this season there isn't 2 or 3 parachute clubs hovering up all the points as we see most seasons. The drawback however, is the table is much closer and the fight for autos and play-offs may only be decided on the final day. Probably don't even need 90 points for second. Can we? |  | | |
