That might well be the case, but that's no excuse for gratuitously making the situation worse in the meantime. Makes the task that much harder.
Mind you, much of the fossil fuel drive is less about denying climate change on any rational grounds than profits, jobs* and national security**.
* Trying to resurrect old industries like coal mining to curry votes in regions economically devastated by their decline.

Yeah, we are proper effed, aren't we? Or at least our children and grandchildren are. And lots of species all over the planet.
We have to decarbonise the following (which very roughly emit similar amounts of greenhouse gas):
Transport
Heating/Cooling/Industry
Agriculture
Construction
We have only got technical solutions for some parts of the first two, and they are pretty unpopular in some parts of society because of woke or something.
