I’m not sure the naturally-logical types [who may care about grammar] are really the target audience of that book.

Odd comment.

It will shock you to know that is a translation from the original language (and one of many different translations into English). There are some very famous errors in some of the published translations too.

Am I the only one missing what the poor grammar is?

Whilst the tweet has now gone, I imagine it was a translation from an earlier English translation.

I think it was the New King James version but personally I don't think it is as good as the original King James Bible version.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I wish I hadn't edited it now!!!

The book of Matthew was originally in old greek and often was translated into English via modern greek or Latin through the lens of the politics at the time of translations, not least in the 4th century when Christianity become a way to try and hold the Roman Empire and 1000 years later through the reformation
