According to CHATGPT, the worlds militaries increasingly rely on AI more and more for its defence and nuclear systems. So much so, the risk of a nuclear war increases more and more per year due to an AI miscalculation within those systems that there is a 22 PERCENT CHANCE of an unintentional/accidental nuclear happening in 50 years time! Seems obvious that my first response would be “okay, surely we (humans) wouldn’t let that happen..” but apparently not according to chat gpt as we give more and more control and power to AI to make decisions for us (and/or rely on data that AI provides us to make those decisions). A lovely way to spend an evening. Take me back to 2006 please when the world was a lot less scary. [Post edited 15 Jan 23:29]

| I’ve just been down an hour long CHATGPT rabbit hole on 09:44 - Jan 17 by TheBlueGnu | I often wonder what Violet Carson would have thought of CHATGPT. If it had been around in the 70's would she have ordered her half of stout via AI in The Rovers snug? |
Violet, of course, was a famous earlier adopter of Ee, aye!, and bought most of her hats and cucumber slices from EeBah / Gum - the latter before they started adding the tree, of course. I would have thought that you would have known that, our kid.

| I’ve just been down an hour long CHATGPT rabbit hole on 11:26 - Jan 17 with 267 views | ArnoldMoorhen | In the week when a Chief Constable has had to resign because he lied to MPs twice based on "intelligence information" generated (and hallucinated) by AI, we probably shouldn't put too much store in the "higher ups" intervening when AI has got it wrong. Everybody loves a lazy shortcut! Just look at how many pasta sauces are available just to save people the bother of chopping an onion and some garlic and opening a tin of tomatoes. So why wouldn't our Politicians out-source nuclear brinkmanship to a computer, it gives them more time for their second jobs and consultancies. | | | |

OK. Thanks for confirming there is no such evidence.

"I don't care" ... I haven't got time to link the evidence. However, whilst neither caring nor having the time to link the evidence, I will argue with you on the internet over it. I haven't got time to research non-existent articles you have made up in your head.

I'm guessing they are referring to the MiT report. https://www.media.mit.edu/publ

OK, thanks. Doesn't that study simply show that if you use AI for completing a specific task, you become less adept at completing the task if you no longer have access to AI for that same task? I would not say that equates to using ChatGPT damages your intelligence! It actually shows that practising a task develops the skills to perform that task well, doesn't it? The same could be said for using AI as not using it. Presumably the group denied access to AI would have done worse at a task that required them all to use it after the initial tasks. Thanks for sharing what Libero couldn't be bothered to, though.

Aye, this is one of the many things I’ve read/watched/etc - get ready for the slop defenders to take formation.
