Poster on the Sunderland forums is suggesting Dan Neil is getting close to coming here. He seems to be considered ITK (I know) by others.

Very good player. Much needed reinforcements in midfield.

I'm not sure it makes much sense.
Sunderland ditched him as soon as they were promoted. I thought our intention was to sign players who could continue the journey with us in the Prem?
Is he happy to join as a squad player / understudy?

He's an upgrade on Taylor, this is never going to be an exact process.

He's out of contract in the summer so will be at a reduced fee and is an upgrade on Taylor. We were overrun on the weekend.
Makes perfect sense to get him given that.

He’s signing on loan till end of season. Will then be a free agent.

It will be a loan. He wants to run his contract down and have options in the summer.

Loan works even better, would be pleased with that.

That makes a lot more sense.
