Two options for this, off at Sax and either head inland, or towards the coast, and navigate the small winding country lanes.
Not sure there is much else on offer, is there?
I'd be doing all I could to train in if needing to use that section of road, as it'll be mayhem.
Those coming from slight further north could even go A1120.

Nightmare trying to turn right onto the A12 from Marlesford though. But options really are limited.

probably Sax, Snape, Tunstall, Campsea Ashe and back onto the A12 dual carriageway for me. Used to live in Snape so nice to revisit old byways.

Not when the road is closed further up! And by nightmare it basically takes 3 minutes sometimes. Go to Parham and then join at Wickham Market is your other option but that would take longer IMHO.

Scenic and agreed it's a good option as long as Saxmundham doesn't snarl up at the lights.

had a weekend in Sweffling few weeks back, firstly; those roads cant handle that amount of traffic, and secondly; strangest little community run pub there. I say strange, was lovely really, but very different

Shhhh!! That's pretty much my local. It's now community run but was run by a fantastic couple for years before that.
My advice was purely aimed at anyone reading on here going to the game rather than lorry drivers.

Went on a Sunday lunch time, they'd just had a group village walk. So maybe 15 people in there, few dogs. Then a table full of sandwich etc.

Being the outsider with small kids wasn't the bit that made me stand out the most, it was when I said "where is the bar mate?!"
then proceeded to have no idea what drink to order, and opted for this deep roasted ale thing that would have put hairs on Sydney Sweeneys chest!

Game or two of UNO - pleasant

Turn off the A12 at Yoxford, through to Peasenhall, Saxstead, turn off to Helmingham, through to Ashbocking and into town via Westerfield road. Not fast, but a very pleasant ride in and out.

Poll: Right now, who would you rather have as Prime Minister?

If you're part of the airfield rush then I can see it would take some time!

That's nothing. The day a coach load of Norwegian Blues turned up however was something else.
One of my favourite things is to sit at the tables at the front on a Summer's evening watching the swifts. I'm just going to have to vote Reform aren't I !!
During lock down Maz used to cycle around the villages in fancy dress delivering beer orders in plastic milk bottles....God I loved lock down!

This would be my recommendation. Stay well away from the villages close to or around the closure; it will be manic, stressful and probably take just as long as this route.

And if you see me walking my dogs, wave.

Was CAMRA branch, and CAMRA regional pub of the year back in 2015, always keep meaning to pop in

And no bar is the traditional setup most pubs had back in the day, serve direct from the cask, they're a couple still like that locally.
