| A Big Lump. 09:09 - Feb 1 with 424 views | OldFart71 | Why must any player, if we buy one for the No.9 position be a big lump. Yes I know that's supposed to be the way we play but if it's not working why carry on with the same old. Time to mix it up I feel. Whilst I know we are not Arsenal they have players like Jesus a "Fox in the box" player. Also we seem to be persisting in playing Egeli as a winger, when he clearly isn't. Is it really the case that he's too young to play alongside someone in the middle. He doesn't have to be a battering ram. For a long time we have played one up front as with Delap and now Hirst or Azon, but it's stuttering along and even with Delap who I suggest is far better than Hirst really struggled the second half of last season although the whole team did. | | | | |

If that puts the winger (or full back) in a good position to shoot then that is what they should do...and the number nine is still forward ready to pick up rebounds and occupying defenders who don't know if a pass is incoming. | |

| A Big Lump. on 11:50 - Feb 1 with 238 views | BloomBlue | Arsenal actually have some crazy stat this season that opposition players have more 'assists' for them that any Arsenal player. The result of them having such brilliant corner /freekick specialist that the big lump playing for the opposition gets their head to the ball but simply directs it to an under 6foot Arsenal player to score. I don't think we need a big lump Thiago and Semenyo aren't exactly big lumps and 2nd, 3rd in PL scoring. I certainly wouldn't say no to Ollie Watkins joining us and he's not even 6foot | | | |
| A Big Lump. on 12:21 - Feb 1 with 190 views | Nutkins_Return | We are absolutely not after a big lump and we don't have one on the books. A big lump would be no good to us. Criteria are: good pace, ability to press, ability to play with back to goal but absolutely to be able to play on the shoulder as well. An ideal profile would be over 6ft but not interest in a 'big lump' really as they wouldn't be able to press . Really what we and so many clubs need is a bit of a hybrid no 9. Fox in the box type doesn't really fit the requirements of how we play and would be a last ,10-20 mins option only. | |
