| Interesting 'insight' from the club: 19:19 - Feb 2 with 6364 views | Zx1988 | Taken from Stuart Watson's EADT piece: "It's understood that the scouting team, led by new head of recruitment Mick Court, put several possible targets to manager Kieran McKenna but that the Blues boss opted not to pursue many." Assuming that's come from the Ashton side of things, it feels a rather pointed statement. Definitely not the usual 'collective responsibility' attitude that should prevail in this sort of situation. Kieran didn't think that a lot of the possible targets would improve the team. 2. He did think that some were worth pursuing. Let's not start blaming people in what is always a difficult window. |
The club wanted that message to go specifically out.

McAteer hasn't really got going, yet. Egeli would be better from the bench. And There has to be a huge question mark over Burns fitness. Mehmeti can play there, but he was brought in to fight for the 10 position. An ever present RW would have been a huge boost.

It would have been initially perplexing, and we'd still be craving a striker, but after the dust settled how bloody good would the team look with another flying winger like Jaden or Clarke on the opposite wing? It would have been crazy. Mcateer and Egeli then become players to push on from the bench, burns gets a full role when needed and not relied upon. It works once you look past the other two costing loads and not hitting the ground running. Not to be and we're still looking decent. Let's see.

Yes, many are focussed on the 9 for goals. But look at the amount goals from left wing. We could score more than 40 from there, by the end of the season. If we could develop the right side to chip in at the same rate, we would be unstoppable.

Just as a matter of interest, who would you prefer as manager and what sort of things would you expect them to say in interviews?
