| Budgies 8 points off the POs… on 10:53 - Feb 11 by GavTWTD | It took no effort, just a page I'd been working on. True, it doesn't take into account teams playing each other, just a simple PPG for each team. But it is a gauge of what's possible and teams are where they are for a reason. I really don't think that Norwich can sustain 2.5 a match for the remainder and that's really what's required for them. |
I hope you're right but I think you're wrong. As you've said it's just a simple ppg and is reassuring on the face of it however it's giving hope where it's not quite due yet. Thinking 2.5 is really required for them but in actual fact....none of us know at all. We hope they don't gain 2.5 pts a game but in actual fact, they are and the way they are playing they could...they are scoring for fun and clean sheeting. I'll check back on this thread at the end of the season in the hope you're right

In the last 6 they've beaten WBA, Oxford, Blackburn, Coventry and Wrexham. The Cov win was surprising but they're in a big blip. They lost to Boro. Every team goes through a sequence of nicer games and I think they've hit theirs. There are 8 teams left in their fixtures who are in the top 10 so won't be easy for them especially to maintain 2.5. They'll start drawing teams and that won't be enough.

| Budgies 8 points off the POs… on 08:48 - Feb 11 by HighgateBlue | It's amazing what clinical strikers can achieve for you. I love Town, I love Kieran. But when it comes to acquiring strikers who can score goals, how the Swiss Dickens are Norwich so very many light years ahead of us? |
Chancers ….they take a punt from Europe, they win some and lose some but the outlay is minimal most of the time , although they have caught a cold or two for bigger money .

clinical? even makana has less goals from more football than our back-up left winger!

And you know for sure that those Norwich strikers would : a) be effective against an ultra low block opposition (which Norwich never see set against them) b) offer all/any of the other attributes that our system / KM expects We risk losing goals from elsewhere in the team if they don't.

I think we've got 30 points from the last 16 games to date. (Whatnot joined 17 games ago but lost his first one so lets ignore that one). So not quite on track, but might get close. [Post edited 11 Feb 13:36]

It's not just the points its the 'traffic' ahead of them. If we work on the basis 5th and up are uncatchable based on the 14 point gap with 14 to play, they're effectively eyeing 6th. They don't just need to outpace Wrexham by 8 points from a game less, they need to do it to 9 other clubs by 4 - 7 points. I think they would have to win 10 games from 14 to even have an outside chance. Its too late for them this season, but no doubt they'll be happy with what they're seeing under Clement and it'll give them some hope for next season.

You've only got 14 games left. Edit: Just realised you meant you've got 30 points from the past 16 games, thought you meant you need 30 points from the last 16. [Post edited 11 Feb 13:31]

very true and definitely not safe. Looks like it'll be over a point per game to stay up this year.
