A Grand Jury threw it out. We are at the jailing political opponents stage of “it’s not fascism” [Post edited 11 Feb 7:42]

Everyone can see who this administration is, I’m just surprised so many people in the states seem to be pretending things are normal.

Because Trump and his friends control almost all the media at both a national and more recently local level due to the mergers taking place. And we’ve said it before, it’s why the “fake news” thing was embedded in so early on in the playbook. “The single source of truth is me and my administration”. Everyone else is an ‘enemy of the people’ or fake news. And half the country have bought it and keep drinking the kool aid.

Every day they push the needle a little further. And still no-one blinks.

That's not really fair. A huge number of people are getting upset about it. There's just nothing they can actually do. All the levers of power are already in the hands of Trump and his associates. There is little mechanism even to formally register dissent (such as we would have with political opposition having formal status, Parliamentary rebellions, by-elections and a freer press in the UK). Plus a large part of the country thinks they are at least no worse off with Trump, plus he's making the right noises to appeal to their social conservatism and desire to economically turn the clock back.

The challenge as I see it is that they have to tread carefully , if Trump and his team are unseated unceremoniously would result in instant backlash from a big chunk of voters - the process here seems to be "hold fast" drip feed the bad news in the hope that some of those 70+ million Maga's will see the light and start to swing the pendulum themselves - the danger and its very real and present , is that most Maga's have an ideal and if not Trump it will be someone else similar - we can only hope the next one is a little more downbeat on the rhetoric - we have to remember that despite the global ignorance this administration demonstrates and the bullying tactics , they are acting on what a large chunk of voters voted for .

Very wise. That backlash could result in a literal civil war, whereas the drip feed approach can allow voters egos to gently reset to a place of sanity - necessary for their bodies to then act to steer their country back from the edge of disaster. Then they can look back, reflect and and hopefully learn that human beings do better together.

That's an approach that could work on this forum I reckon!
