Wrexham - Covers, Drainage, etc 18:15 - Feb 12 with 1376 viewsskinnybob72

Hoping that Wrexham have decent drainage or pitch covers because the forecast suggests rain for most of the next 24 hours in that area.

Really can't face the prospect of another long drive to result in an abandonment / postponement once again!!

It’s rained every day in 2026 so far in Wales, so I’m sure another day won’t hurt. And they had a massive overhaul in the summer - high tech pitch, drainage, the works (Blackburn and Pompey take note).

Some sleet and snow possible too!

Drainage will be ok, but I hope the floodlights work better than they did last time we were there in the FA Cup! From Phil’s pre-match report -

McKenna: Lively Atmosphere Will Make Wrexham Cup Tie More Enjoyable and a Really Good Challenge 12th Feb 2026 18:32
Town manager Kieran McKenna says he’ll relish what he anticipates being a lively atmosphere at the Racecourse Ground on Friday for the Blues’ fourth-round FA Cup tie against Wrexham, the first of two visits to face the Red Dragons in eight days (BBC One Wales, KO 7.45pm). 14

The stand from where it was being filmed was the old Mold Road stand. That was derelict at that time, as it was an all-timber stand and considered a fire hazard after the Bradford fire. It stayed derelict until it was demolished in 1998 and the new stand opened a year later in 1999 in time for the Rugby World Cup. I used to go in there a lot to watch them when I lived just down the road. Carlos Edwards was playing for them as a right back, so this was about 2000-2004 time. The end they’re now rebuilding (their Kop) is the end shown for our first chance in that video.

So they’ve still got a derelict part of the ground, the drainage should now all be sorted, I hope they’ve put new bulbs in the floodlights.

No problem, just ask the Dragons to breathe fire!

If it were called off, I'd be seriously considering throwing it with an entire U-21 team if it has to be rearranged to further fk up our league schedule over the next couple of months.

Bleedin' AGW eh!

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!
