It's not even that he doesn't score away, almost all of his home goals (bar two against Sheffield Utd) have been in the first half. Us North Standers have had slim pickings!
I think it probably is related to us starting home games fast to try and get the early goal, and creating that one on one situation for him, whereas away from home we haven't been able to dominate the early play as effectively. |  |

He can't handle the cabbage patch the away pitches are, unless it's an extremely saturated Old Trafford pitch. | |

I'm not sure its enough of a trend to be a trend if that makes sense, I think probably coincidental. He's only started 6 away games this season vs. 13 at home, so there's that. His only 2 goals for us last season were at Old Trafford.
I think he's a quality player, he can score against anyone anywhere at this level. |  | | |

At home he tends to get 2/3 inverted opportunities. Away it never seemed to be that open for him to do so. |  |

The answer is fairly simple. It isn't easy to score when you aren't on the pitch.
The last 3 away matches Philogene didn't play in. The one before that he played 3 minutes. He did start at Millwall and Leicester before that - two games in which we struggled to break the opposition down. Philogene hasn't scored in every home game he has played in either. Prior to those two, he has had as many sub appearances as starts. It has been clear that generally McKenna fancies Clarke away and Philogene at home. Since Philogene has been out injured, Clarke has scored 2 in 2 starts at home. Before that, he hadn't scored in any of his starts at home (but had a few in his spells off the bench).
Another thing about Philogene is that all his goals have come from shots around the edge of the box cutting in from the left shooting across the keeper. Perhaps that is him playing to his strengths. If it isn't broken, don't try to fix it! |  |
