No, I think we are certainties to go down judging by some of the overreaction to a pisspoor defensive performance at the weekend.

Certainly certainities to stay up. But highly likely to miss out out on promotion via the play-offs, which is really poor which ever way you look at it from McKenna and the senior core of the team. Really poor. Now we are near the end of Feb there isnt really the option to say "There are loads of time to go" , and "Give the team time to gel". They should be there now. Games such as Wrexham shouldnt be happening now in the manner that it did. If we had lost by an odd goal and there were mitigating circumstances such as a very poor decision by the the referee. Or a horrible injury. Or terrible weather and/or pitch then OK. But we lost from our own inadequate management of the game. From our own inadequate captain. From lack of desire. That is unexceptable near the end of Feb. The fact that many have blown a gasket because of it is very understandable. It clearly shows something is not right at the heart of ITFC.

Gosh the overreaction is startling. Saturday was frustrating - and showed the brittle mentality at the heart of this team which is worrying. But then two weeks ago at Derby we were talking about how we'd overcome that. I'd guarantee every club around us will be worried we'll go on a run. And it's perfectly possible we will - particularly with most of our rivals to have to come to Portman Road to play us. SO many games to go and no team around us is looking invincible - Coventry have been on a bad run til Monday and their fans would be saying the same. Middlesboro looked fantastic and now have only one point out of six. Hull blow hot then cold.

Wrexham are clearly a new Oxford in terms of bogey ground, but let's see where we are going into the international break in March. I predict we'll be in touching distance of the top 2 with a game still in hand...

Is that the extent of our ambition then ? Staying up in the second division with a £150m squad ?

Well, quite. Saturday was crap and there are things we need to address as a team but I'm not ready to write off finishing in the top two let alone having a chance in the play-offs.

Do people understand that play-off winners don't need to be consistent across the whole season to get promoted just in some games? Sunderland weren't even the best team in any of their three play-off matches last season.

You are being very inconsistent. At one moment you think Im massively overreacting at that we are in touching dustance of going up. You then say we have brittle mentality. Thats a very worrying aspect of a team. Not something you can rectify in 2 weeks like a physical injury. Unless one of the top two implode we will be in the play offs. Im not confident we would be successful in these. Though I suppose we only need to be consistent for 3 games.
