The curious case of Mendel-Idowu 11:54 - Feb 28 with 663 viewsbournemouthblue

He looks an unbelievable talent for the U21's but is now 21 and his contract is up in the summer, he won't count as a home grown player

What do you do with him?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

He clearly needs a loan spell, whether that’s here in the UK or- maybe league 1/2. Or a good loan spell abroad. Maybe 2nd divisions in Holland, or Germany, Belgium.

He may look at an unbelievable talent at that level, but is he ever going to get a game ahead of the 3 in the first team currently? Honest answer is no.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

I imagine most current managers don't think long term, as they want to protect their jobs, and get positive results straight away.
However, I don't think there are many more managers who are as secure in their role as Kieran, and I think his record is quite disappointing in giving our youngsters a chance.
We don't even do it in the cup competitions any more.

"going to get a game ahead of the 3 in the first team currently?" - we won't get much more than 60 mins and two games per week from Burns this season. Vs our back-ups in Egeli and McAteer? Yes I think he could get mins. Shame he wasn't tried in the FA Cup.

Looks a bit of a highlights reel player and as you allude to he's 21 and still playing youth football so if he was truly a lot better than that level he'd be playing it. Know they're doing really well themselves but Lincoln had Fin Barbrook one loan who's considered one of our brightest young talents and he couldn't even get on their bench and is now at Colchester in L2.

Could argue that where we are as a club makes it harder to bring youth players through and maybe in the Evans era then people like him would get chucked in through little other choice if nothing else, but tough to make the case that a manager with McKenna's background is turning a blind eye to the youth teams.

He would count as U21 as he only turned 21 last month so was U21 in the calendar year which is what matters.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

That's good news on the latter part, I can only assume his physicality and defensive work is questionable

He has good pace and ability going forward
