Why were the Hull fans giving him such grief? I thought they'd give him a decent reception, but they were giving him pelters every time he touched the ball. I looked like it effected him too, as he seemed rather nervous on the ball last night.

I might be wrong, but he didn't leave them under a cloud, did he? From the outside, he seemed to give his all for their club, didn't force the move, and they got very good value for him.

I'm not expecting them to clap and cheer his every touch, but to boo and jeer him seems in rather bad taste to me!

They got enough money for him! They should have built a shrine.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

Because they're nobs. He's a Hull lad from a Hull family. His dad grew up there and played loads of games for Hull, JG joined the academy at 8 and was at Wembley watching them as a kid. He went on to captain them and play over 200 games.

He left for really good money, to a non rival in the Premier League. I don't understand why they're so salty.

There was a view from some of their fans that in the reverse fixture he was a bit of a shithouse - I think some of it might have come from that.

I believe several of them weren't too pleased with his celebrations in the reverse fixture.

Ah, okay. There is at least something behind it. Not that I'll ever understand why a former player shouldn't celebrate a goal or a win against a former team. As long as a player doesn't take the piss out of the oppo fans, what's the issue?

Honestly, modern football (and modern society). It feels like not many former players escape that now from what i've witnessed. Everything is extreme so if you've left the club you must be awful and treated as such.

Probably why he celebrated our goals so strongly then! Fuel to the flames!

I'm afraid it's a sad reflection on a percentage of football supporters that can rightly be described as moronic.

If it unsettled him, as you suspect, then fair play to them. In top level sport there is no room for niceties, every advantage counts.

Come final day of the season I would boo my own Gran if I thought it would help.
