In fact quite the reverse , and I doubt any top 5 PL would risk him as their manager right now. It'd be more likely to be an established mid table PL club if it were to be a PL club at all.

| Tottenham are terrible. (n/t) on 21:49 - Mar 5 by SomethingBlue | Don't think he could or would turn down Spurs, regardless. |
I agree. An absolute no brainer. In his shoes and taking off the supporter-specs wouldn’t you? Relegated or not they represent a massive opportunity. One of the big clubs on its uppers? The only way is up, especially if they’re relegated. McKenna will probably go this summer regardless. He’s been here a while now and knows he doesn’t have, by any means, universal support here. He’s alluded to it. Even on a tiny sample size of this forum, many want him gone (see uppies and downies 2/12 and the response to the beating at Wrexham). It’ll be such a sad day when he goes, but for me it’ll be thanks for the memories and the great football. He’s been great and up there with our better managers that I remember. Excluding Ramsey, Robson and Burley are top of the rest. McKenna sits next with Lyall, McGarry (whose team I did see play) and controversially Royle whose team exceeded what they should have given his team was sold underneath him and they played great attacking football.

I wouldn't put McGarry in the same room as the other managers mentioned. He inherited some very good flair players from Jackie Milburn and managed to knit them into a team [and also added John O'Rourke late in the season], but he ruled by fear and his negative tactics were soon found out at Wolves. Had he continued at Ipswich we would have had relegation rather than the glory years under Robson. Opinions, opinions of course. I agree that McKenna to Spurs is a very real possibility. Particularly if he promotes us AND Spuds are relegated.

I stand corrected on McGarry if you are right. I was too young for his early years, but I thought he inherited a right pile of cr@p from Milburn who despite being a lovely man wasn’t suited to management and knew it? John O)Rourke was my first fave player as an 8 year old. Mop of black hair, scored every week. I was destroyed when he left.
| Tottenham are terrible. (n/t) on 08:42 - Mar 6 with 307 views | BloomBlue | It still makes me smile, approx a couple of months ago Spurs fans were phoning into Talksport saying get shot of Frank, and when asked who they wanted as Manager, they replied anyone, as anyone has to be better than Frank's. Be careful what you wish for..... | | | |
