Since Gamechanger took over, the Club hasn't really put a foot 09:15 - Mar 25 with 409 viewshomer_123

wrong as such - maybe the odd thing here and there.

However, they have dropped the ball here with Reform and Farage. A bad decision, no matter how it's spun from the Club. It's not a good look no matter your political persuasion.

Sport is supposed to be apolitical.

If this event was part of Town hosting all national/ local political parties, then they would be on more solid ground but it doesn't appear to be.

Is there an argument that they were damned if they did or didn't let this go ahead I wonder? If they didn't original know who made the booked and then subsequently found out and cancelled it - I wonder if the backlash would have been similar from a different angle?

As an aside, similar happened in 2023 with the Natural History Museum ( https://www.museumsassociation where it took a booking made in a name that was different to that actually holding the event and their internal processes didn't spot it.

Not a great day for the Club regardless.

Mr Farage you are welcome to take a tour of the ground but please do not use the clubs brand for promotion or pro reform content as we are Apolitical.

Surely that was all it took. Somebody at the club is in a job they shouldnt be in.

I think if the issue was 'private citizen books tour', as it first appeared to be, then no matter how unpalatable that individual may be, this would have blown over fairly quickly.

The issue is that it quickly turned from that to 'political party shoots promo at Portman Road'....

And that is where the problem is. Regardless of party.

Apolitical, my arse.

Surely they wouldn't be "damned if they didn't" as they had never done anything like this in the past.

I guess my point is, it's possible some might have moaned that by not taking the booking it is seen as a political statement - if you see what I mean?
