I don't think this is a left/right thing.
It wouldn't be any different or better if they printed 6 shirts in Starmer's name and allowed the Labour Party to use the visit for political campaigning purposes.
The closeness of this to the May elections makes it even worse.
And it's all been compounded by the club not seemingly being honest about what went on, just not something one would expect of a CEO.

Ask the club employees who are unhappy about the whole situation whether they blame “lefties “ or not!
It’s not the fans, players, McKenna or the vast majority of the club employees who are at fault.
It is those who sanctioned the whole event and have then lied about it. If they think there was nothing wrong in what they have done why have they tried to hide it?

The bloke who runs our club has shown it’s not our club at all. Most vaguely intelligent people knew this anyway, that’s the nature of football being a business.
The issue would be the same whichever the party. A football club that represents its fan base in its entirety can’t endorse a political party. That is what’s happened here. So it begs the question. Whose football club is it? Not ours clearly. But it’s not Ashton’s either is it?
Lies and arrogance. Demonstrable lying and contempt. It’s outrageous and anyone who doesn’t think it’s a big deal is a bit of a naive nobber quite frankly.

If he has indeed lied maybe it was because he foresaw the over reaction from some of the fanbase - and judging by the recent meltdown if that was the case then he’s been proven correct. |

I.couldnt care less about his politics. ME was a prominent Lib Dem, I doubt the Cobbolds were lefties.
I've no idea if Ashton is even a reform fan boy, that's his business.
But lieing to the fans is unforgivable. Honesty and integrity clearly lacking as well as judgement and competence. |
