| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:44 - Mar 26 by SWLondonBlue93 | I shouldn't reply to an obvious troll, but I'm fascinated by the line of thinking where "lefties" have decided we need to get rid of Ashton (why?) so have set up a meeting between him and Farage, hacked Reform UK's socials so everyone knows Farage visited the club, forced the club to lie about what happened, and then drip-fed details to The Athletic. That would be quite the scheme. |
some people are very into conspiracy theories, but that's a particularly good one!

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:49 - Mar 26 with 526 views | _CliveBaker_ | I'm not a leftie, but Farage is a massive turd and Ashton needs to go. He can't use his position to massage his own gigantic ego at significant detriment to the reputation of the club, against the will of staff and majority of its supporters. It also won't 'bring us down'. This sorry affair needs to bring him down though. | | | |

Aye, and that’s massive. Ashton has upset his staff and lost the respect for him - the club had been watertight over many things these last few years, for them to leak this stuff is an eye opener. Position now untenable.

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:41 - Mar 26 by SitfcB | Would there have really been as much outrage had it been anyone else though, I think not. The trouble with someone like Farage I think most of his/Reforms supporters are publicly silent. Starmer for example would’ve had a lot more on his side, publicly. |
Apolitical, basically means not interested or not involved in politics. Hosting a party leader during a campaign, is being involved in politics. I think if they had lied in the same way about inviting, hosting, and giving out a few freebies to any leader during a campaign, I reckon about 70% of people would be annoyed, e.g. all the people that don’t support that party. The only exception would be if Zack Polanski turned up at Forrest Green Rovers, for a vegan burger, not sure anyone would bat an eyelid.

If he has indeed lied maybe it was because he foresaw the over reaction from some of the fanbase - and judging by the recent meltdown if that was the case then he’s been proven correct.

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:59 - Mar 26 with 440 views | BornDeleuze | It’s nothing to do with Lefties. It’s to do with corruption and lying. That our CEO has dragged politics into out club is shameful and then gone on to lie about it. Unforgivable arrogance. | | | |

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:35 - Mar 26 by The_Romford_Blue | I’d be p**sed off if he did this with Starmer. The invite, the lunch, the lies. The fact he’s used the club for his own gains. It’s worse that it’s Farage (obviously - the bloke is a racist scumbag) but it’s still a sackable offence even if it was any politician. Or had he invited any person in power tbh. |
A Stramer shirt with number 10 on it makes sense as he’s the PM. Farage with that number on it is mixing club and politics. Obviously this is Stramers fault.

Wow. That really is quite some rationalisation you've gone for there! Let's take this to the logical conclusion and say you are correct... if he did foresee the 'over' reaction from 'some' of the fan base, would a better plan not be, oh, I don't know, have the meeting somewhere that wasn't the club?

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 19:12 - Mar 26 with 373 views | ghostofescobar | The club goes on, no matter what. I just don’t want this proud club associated so absolutely with a fascist, racist scumbag, end of. I’m not lefty by the way, just think I have a very good moral compass. I can look myself in the mirror, and look my kids in the eye, and know what I believe is right with regards to tolerance and acceptance. Also, I’d sacrifice results on a football pitch, but never my moral compass, so make of that what you will. | |

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 19:19 - Mar 26 with 355 views | Butterbing | It's not the leftie int he fanbase though is it? It doesn't really matter if it's left or right. The club should not be associated with or affiliated with a political party. Whatever party they had aligned themselves with would automatically exclude a large portion of the fanbase. Others on the forum have stated that they would feel let down by the club if they had done this with Polanski. It is, however, exacerbated by how divisive and controversial Farage is. It is so obviously a bad PR move. Then when you add the lies and that incredibly poor club statement it really is enough for Ashton to have to resign over. Then the club can move on and we can all get behind the team for the last 8 games. | | | |

Those that keep downplaying it and blaming a few vocal posters on TWTD (the lefties?) in case you hadn't noticed it's not something just happening in the EADT, it's a national story, in fact International with the NYTimes running it and the club are not looking very good because of it at the moment. That's not because the leftie bum club on TWTD got a bit irate.

| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:44 - Mar 26 by bluelagos | And that's exactly it. I.couldnt care less about his politics. ME was a prominent Lib Dem, I doubt the Cobbolds were lefties. I've no idea if Ashton is even a reform fan boy, that's his business. But lieing to the fans is unforgivable. Honesty and integrity clearly lacking as well as judgement and competence. |
Exactly that. If MA votes Reform, that’s his business as a private individual. But to use our club to promote Reform (or rather, allow it to be used), is not on, and to then lie and try and deny it is the cherry on the cake. Or whatever the opposite of that is - the babybel on the Battenberg?
