Ashton In? Out? Why?

Your Vote:

You need to be logged in to vote on our site polls

I'm interested to know what people's main feeling is about the whole Reform / Farage / Ashton situation, particularly to gauge any levels of people who think it's all an over-reaction (but may not vocalise that without the anonymity of a poll).

Maybe it's too complex to distil into a number of poll options, but let's see... Cast your vote for the option that closest matches your feelings:

In! - No further action needed
I don't really see what the fuss is about, it'll blow over, there's no need to say or do anything more than has already been said/done.

In! - But he needs to publicly apologise
We need a proper public apology and acknowledgement of mistakes, but then we move on.

Out! - For being a Reform supporter
This incident has caused me to believe MA's political persuasion appears to lean towards Reform, I don't want someone that appears to have those beliefs leading the Club.

Out! - For hosting Reform at PR at all
I don't really care about MA's political views, but Reform should never have been allowed to set foot in PR, and for that he needs to go.

Out! - Not preventing the Club being politicised
I'm indifferent that Reform were hosted at the Club, but making the mistake of not safeguarding the club, allowing them to be ambushed into being used as part of a political agenda etc, is unacceptable.

Out! - Sanctioning the Club being politicised
I'm indifferent that Reform were hosted at the Club, but actively allowing / promoting / sanctioning the Club to become part of a political agenda etc, is unacceptable.

Out! - For lies, coverup + handling since
Mistakes were made, I could live with that if they were acknowledged, but the lies, deceit, lack of ownership and silence of response since, are unacceptable.

Out! - I wanted him out before all this
I didn't want him at the Club before all the Reform stuff happened anyway.

Sack Mark for being unloyal - disloyal… and for joining in lunch in a way that excludes marginalised communities

No, not at the moment

Sanctioning the club being politicised for me.

It seem for many forum members, the fact it was Reform isn't the issue, but for me it is. It is shameful that they have become a mainstream political party, and their brand of politics is hateful, divisive and designed primarily to extract the most value for their leaders at the expense of the people they claim to represent. For me, the fact that the club is now so formally associated with such an organisation is unacceptable, and for that reason he has to go.

If it was a quiet lunch and private tour I wouldn't have been happy, but I wouldn't think it a sacking matter. Similar to the Morsy armband controversy, it would have dented my view of him but not to the same extent. Similarly if the club had been honest from the start but pushed back on the club being used by Reform in the way it has, it would have been easier to forgive.

Interesting to see pushing 1/3rd (being generous, at time of writing this comment) of votes still in the 'In' category. It's probably an under-represented view-point in open discussion due to inevitability of being shot down in flames for expressing that view openly.

I'm sure you're right. Doubtless Reform supporters are more likely to consider this the proverbial "storm in a teacup" - there will be thousands in attendance at Portman Rd, realistically, let alone part of the wider support. This forum, to no fault of its owners, isn't a reliable representation of the whole community, even before you take into account members who prefer to avoid hostility online. Then you'll have Mark loyalists, those who fear change, and people who have no interest in incidents like this, who haven't and won't engage with the information available.

I wouldn't be surprised if overall opinion among adults is split down the middle, which would still be a terrible position for him to be in.

Wanted him gone for a while now, he’s so far up his own backside. Always around when things were going great, and now he’s gone awol. He knows he’s effed up and isn’t man enough to come out and apologise. Personally I couldn’t care less who came to our ground, every politician is out for theirselves and can’t be trusted, it’s just Ashton knew and organised it all but refused to acknowledge it.
I don’t think he’s done a great job the last two seasons, wasted millions on poor recruitment plus he gave McKenna an absurd salary, that’s why I want him gone. Gone south ever since he became CEO & chairman, he’s got too much power and the owners have been very quiet since the disaster of last year in the PL.
Hope he’s gone before Birmingham because the team needs focus on the remaining games, and with him there it’s going to be a massive distraction. (Don’t think we’ll make top 2 anyway, and I think we will fail in the play offs so it’s going to be another season of upheaval.

It’s never the scandals that gets them. It’s the lies trying to cover it up.

Does he just sit on his arsenal all day no he is ambitious in players we buy the stadoum thing we do commercially, he has alot of apologizing to do but alot of people are using this to get him out when not at all thinking about what he has done for this club , yes money has been spent and not worked out but thats life and other CEOs have been far worse

Just a comment to say this is a really good poll and interesting to see them why behind people's opinion.
