It is NOT time to move on 09:29 - Mar 28 with 1840 viewsCobboldCrusty

it has been covered elsewhere the reasons why that was not an apology

identity of the club is at stake here

as I've mentioned elsewhere, for some fans this is a matter of whether we can actually continue as Ipswich fans from this point forward - it really matters

we need to be thinking about how we can express our discontent with Ashton's continued presence at the club

we cannot simply turn up Monday week, watch the game and 'support the boys' - it goes beyond that

I understand some people want to move on because they don't want this to be a big deal but the monkey is out of the bottle - this is not going away

I fully respect other’s views and opinions. What I don’t agree with is the continued drive by some to keep this situation going in such a negative manner.
Just over Three years ago, we had beaten Accrington Stanley here at Portman Road, the plans, hopes and aspirations were undoubtedly already in place to drive the club forward, most of this being done by Mark Ashton and his team. Now, the guy is clearly “marmite” to a lot of our supporters. Those it seems were happy to dislike MA but enjoy everything relatable to what he had helped achieve, stadium upgrades beyond anything we’ve seen before, some fine talent and investment in the playing staff, persuasion to keep McKenna at the club when he was heavily touted to move on, bringing the live entertainment of Fabio Wardley and Ed Sheeran to Portman Road as well as most impressively helping bringing Premier League football back last year.
Now it seems all that is forgotten or irrelevant due to his almighty cock up earlier this week.

It is not forgotten. Just 3 days ago my opinion was very, very different. But his actions since have completely blown that up for me.

I said in another thread that I will not be starting threads about this, as it is not my desire to be divisive, however, I will stand my ground and make my case where I see fit.

Like you, I do not want this situation dragged out any further, but there is a very simple solution for that, and it doesn't lie with me, or any other of the fans who feel aggrieved.

If you want this to go away, then I suggest you contact Mr Ashton and persuade him to take on *any* level of accountability because, thus far, there has been none. Just lies, gaslighting and non-apologies.

This whole sorry episode has really tarnished what has been by all measures (we'll quietly forget about last season) a fantastic time to be a Town fan.

In my opinion.

I think you have simultaneously missed my point whilst ramming in your own point about some people in the country liking Reform.

For me, an apology that doesn’t address what people feel confused about - for example, why the local press were told no involvement - just furthers the division. I’ve already seen national political media reporting this as an apology for meeting Farage. The more I think about it, I can only imagine an apology this vague, with the skirting of whatever the ‘mistruths’ are, seems to purposefully only serve those who will say he has nothing to apologise for. If the ‘apology’ spreads further division, then that for me is another signal of incompetence.

Incompetence isn't a hanging offence. You seem to want defenestration, and to continue to press for it will, by dint of time passing, render such a call an echo chamber.

I actually agree with both things you've stated. It has very unfortunately besmirched the good name of the club and by association it's supporters, no doubt whatsoever about that. At the same time I personally choose to move on as there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. I can understand the reasons why others find it more difficult. Not going to argue with that. As a member of the LGTB+ community, I've learned to move on, on the odd occasion!

It's not incompetence. It's deliberate and provocative, right down to the non apology.

No moving on until he's gone.
