| If we fail to go up... 14:53 - Mar 28 with 1694 views | Paul | Who is getting the blame? Ashton? McKenna? Players? Fans? Something/someone else? It seems like a divided club and a divided fan base and I can see things getting worse if promotion is not achieved this season. | | | | |

| If we fail to go up... on 20:07 - Mar 28 by WestSussexBlue | Do you not think the negativity amongst fans won’t go unnoticed by the players?? Some are literally sabotaging any chance we have on the field. Imagine looking on as a Boro or Millwall fan, they’re loving watching us implode on the forums. |
You see, this is where you and I differ. I cannot see how you can, in any way, blame the fans for this. The fans would not be going through this if it were not for the actions of one man, and one man only. I have said before. The players and managers will receive my 100% support. My issue is purely with the leadership, and it has only been over the last 3 days. For me a line has been crossed, but that in no way impacts my desire to help the team in anyway I can. I think this is where you and I fundamentally differ. You are happy to excuse something that I find fundamentally inexcusable. However we both, ultimately, want the same thing. The best for this team. [Post edited 28 Mar 23:05]

I think the players probably have their own negativity given recent events. How do you think our foreign players feel about what Reform are doing and the lack of any proper accountability? How do you think Mehmeti's feels about his shirt being replaced by a Farage shirt? Blaming other fans isn't really on, many can't turn a blind eye as easily as you. SB

On it - wasted huge amounts of money and paid a manager more than Barcelona. He’s worked hard to to be the ONLY voice and decision maker at the club. That will be his moment to feel what being the only voice in the room is like when outcomes are poor. He wanted to be the centre of every decision. He has to be the centre of the outcomes and consequences too. One thing he’s achieved - that you should never do in football, and I’ve never seen end well….., give players excuses for not performing. For the timing alone Ashton had to go.

I will never excuse, the man (Farage) should never have been anywhere near the club let alone the boardroom. It’s arguably one of the worst decisions by anybody at this football club for a long time. That says a lot considering the car crash years of Marcus Evans. The whole sorry saga could and should have been avoided with better planning and due diligence. This will roll on for sure. As fans and supporters, it’s got to be a time where we let those with power and influence to do the right thing, if that means the ownership group remove Ashton in the summer then so be it. I feel we as fans need to do the right thing and get behind the team, quit the negative and personal posts on here towards MA and leave the professional decisions to those who have the facts.

You see, I think both things are possible. It is possible to support the team whilst also put pressure on the leadership. As fans, we do have agency, and that is to make our feelings heard. To not do so would be a dereliction of duty and allow Ashton to get exactly what he wants, sweep it under the carpet and make it all go away. If it were just me, then fine, 1 person shouting into the void is detrimental. But it clearly is not. Many people feel fundamentally let down by this entire situation and the club need to address it properly and clearly. What proportion of the fans feel this way? I have no idea, but one thing that has become clear is that it is a broad church not drawn along traditional lines (despite the efforts of some to paint it that way). To say and do nothing is to imply acceptance and complicity. I, for one, cannot be complicit in this. That does not mean I hate the team and McKenna. That does not mean I will be doing anything to undermine the team. As I said, both things can be possible. Also, worth noting this: " Farage’s visit was openly discussed among the first-team players when they convened for training at their Playford Road base, several querying how he had been allowed to project himself from areas that are sacrosanct to them on a matchday. A diverse, particularly engaged squad was left unimpressed. It is the last thing Kieran McKenna needs, or deserves, as Ipswich prepare for an eight-game sprint towards promotion next month. Errors of this gravity touch every area of a club. " https://www.theguardian.com/fo You cannot just speak for the team's feelings to suit your view (well you can, but it would be incredibly disingenuous), when it appears that both the team and fans are fairly aligned on this.
