He should probably be spending the next 5 there as well to be fair to him, whether that’s with us or someone else. Hopefully he can do that with Town.

My take is Yes: Dara, Azor, Clarke, Philogene Almost there: Furlong, Davis, Nunez, Mehmeti Ones for the future: Sindre On the bench: Hurst, Johnson, Kipre, Jens, Ogbene, Walton, McAteer, Townsend

I can’t see a way back for Ogbene or Townsend. I think we’ll see quite a few departures, but largely the predictable ones. Chaplin, Burns, Harry Clarke, Baggott, Humphreys, Young, Townsend, Szmodics, Ogbene, Muric, Button, Al-Hamadi. If we could get close to £20m in across that lot you would say that’s probably OK given a few are out of contract. I’d imagine half will be on Muric. Neil & Azon are only on loan as well. That must leave us with a reasonably well balanced base of what, 18 or so players? Probably 8-10 to come in, with another few out (maybe Akpom), Egeli on loan possibly. Recruitment will be very interesting. I’d imagine Hackney will still be right at the top of the list if Boro don’t go up but I hope we cast our net much wider than the championship this time, it’ll be difficult to improve on what we’ve already got from there this time around. Got to get promoted first though, no chicken counting here.

It's an interesting question. Teams are always better than the sum of their parts but to survive in the Premier League you need a good nucleus of players who are Premier League quality. As you have identified, we definitely need a better midfielder than we currently have alongside Matusiwa. Taylor and Neill should be decent squad options, though. We definitely need to upgrade on strikers (and have done for a long time now which shows that is far from easy to do). Another Delap-type would be an important signing but it needs supporting with someone along the lines of what we were looking at in Broja as well. I think we could do with upgrading on keepers but that is far from a priority and I think it would be nice for Walton if he was given a chance to show if he can be good enough. It will be very interesting to see who we target and who we get over the line in the summer. As far as the defence is concerned, I would say Greaves and Kipre are good enough when they are at their best. We just need them to be consistently at that level. All our players who played in the Prem last season will be better for the experience.
