Now where we haven't turned up for 2nd half!
All 3 teams have pushed up and gone man for man high pressing and Mckenna has no answer. Yes we didn't lose any of them but we can't string a 90 minute performance together.

I'd like to be a fly on the wall in our changing room at half times. Whatever goes on in there is responsible for a lot of substandard 2nd halves, fortunately counteracted to some extent by our ability to snatch a goal during the last 15 minutes or so. It's a mystery and who's to blame? One of three options only. It's all on the players, it's all on the manager, or it's a combination of both. Any ideas?

Really? There were 2 teams out there today; Boro are a decent side & second half they went for the win. I suppose the hand wringing today is about us not winning again when automatic looked well within our grasp but the problem was the putrid performance at Pompey on Tuesday, not today's effort.

I think that is unfair on the team. They came out very well early on in the second half and had a number of good chances. It was only after 'boro scored their second that they took control and that lasted for about 15 minutes after which we came back into it again.

Imo it's not what happens in our dressing room its what opponents do that we then struggle to overcome effectively.

Teams change their shapes or change their runners whilst we come out and play the same way and take to long to adjust to their changes.

I thought we were very good in the 2nd half, apart from a 15-20 minute spell after they scored. It looked like we'd had a collective punch in the stomach.

It didn't look like we had the character to get back into it, but post penalty there was only going to be one winner.

Not turning up for the second half, which could be levelled at the players in other games this season, is a lazy assessment of the performance today.

Yes exactly. Boro were very good for that spell in the second half (but not good enough to kill the game) and we were not ruthless enough in our spell during the first half.

The approach to Portsmouth frustrates me far more than today but let’s hope we’ve taken a lesson from that re personnel required in certain positions to get results in games that matter.

If you want a positive, I think Jack Taylor has been excellent both today & against Norwich.

The problem is too many players seem off form to allow us to rotate. Jaiden was weak today, Matusiwa off the boil, Neil is invisible, Egeli has been drained of confidence, the three ten's have differing issues, our strikers battle hard but Azon struggles to finish and Hirst's first touch has all but deserted him. Rotating doesn't help because the subs are hardly at the top of their game, but seven games in 21 days is tough on any squad.
