Anyone know of a bit of software that can do something like the London Underground map from text (i.e. a stylised but functional dynamic, expandable map from text definitions), crucially with the ability to specify an approximate direction for an edge and have the software constantly jiggle things around as new nodes are added to maintain a readable map?
I've use Graphviz before and something else which I can't remember the name of which has probably long-since expired, but I can't find anything which allows 'guidance' of the layout engine i.e. by providing something along the lines of 'A>B[sw], A>C[ne]'.

You could try D2. its incredibly flexible, but whether it easily does what you want, will depend on a bit more information about the outcomes you're looking for. |  |
