| Anyone ever successfully appealed against Parking Eye? 11:08 - May 2 with 931 views | Ryorry | Had mine turned down - I'd actually paid for the parking, but entered my (only recently bought) car reg incorrectly. So because there wasn't a correct record of me entering the car park, I had to guesstimate the time & was out by 15 minutes! So they're wanting to charge me £35/70 because I was £1 short ... Considering taking it to OPTA (PE don't allow using the Ombudsman). [Post edited 2 May 11:09]

It then really boils down to the mercy shown by the operator of the system, and in this connection I have found that local authorities tend to be more generous than private operators, who no doubt milk things for all they are worth. I came across this about Parking Eye, and note it offers AI advice for a fee of £5. Maybe that would help strengthen any appeal you might want to make. In any event, it can't do any harm to appeal because I imagine the reduced penalty is still kept on hold. https://moneynerd.co.uk/privat The article suggests it is the following through which you appeal. https://www.popla.co.uk/how-to ,. | Anyone ever successfully appealed against Parking Eye? on 09:42 - May 3 with 623 views | Pinewoodblue | Parking eye manage other people’s car parks. Local authorities, retail, hotels & healthcare etc. Make urgent contact with the company that employ them. I parked at Lakeside retail park a few years ago. The parking attendant watched me park in disabled parking space, watched me assemble wheel chair and help my wife into it. Two minutes later he wrote a parking ticket out for not correctly displaying blue badge. There were hundreds of vacant spaces. My appeal was rejected, I emailed a copy of my appeal plus Parking Eye rejection to Lakeside management and it was cancelled within 24 hours with an apology.. I did explain the purpose of my visit and add would think twice before returning. I’m sure they don’t read appeals just reject them. I also had problems with them two years ago when I couldn’t give them the name and address of the individual who had parked my car. That got as far of threats to send bailiffs in . I was on a cruise ship heading back to Southampton, There was a late change to the terminal we were returning to which involved the parking company having to move my vehicle to a different terminal. My car was missing from the list of vehicles involved they sent to Parking Eye. A clear and obvious error but Parking Eye dismissed the three emails I sent them. Almost identically worded apart from the threatened next step. They never apologise.

Thanks, had seen that £5 route from googling, intend to try when they reopen on Tuesday; if that doesn’t work then POPLA. The reduced penalty doesn’t apply now that my appeal has failed though; and they’re very good at threatening bailiffs etc, so was tempted to just pay up to avoid the hassle - but on principle am too annoyed to do that! So will also try the owners of the building (Harrogate district hospital, where the pay booths are inside, well away from the parking area, so couldn’t check my registration, & the booths had been faulty a few days earlier so you were told to estimate your arrival time) to see if they can help, though as they have a captive income stream, with zero other alternative parking options available within a mile, I somehow doubt they’ll be too bothered! Appreciate the replies from everyone, thanks 👍

They'll send you various threatening letters, letters from debt collection agencies etc, none of which are worth the paper they're written on. When it does come to court it's then a decision you'll have to make about how likely it's going to be for a judge to enforce a mistake when the actual loss in this case is a £1. In my view Parking Eye are highly likely to drop the case at this point. The whole business model of private parking companies is they know most people just pay to get rid of the problem but if you don't back down then more often than not they'll drop the case prior to court as its costing them money at that point.

This is really questionable advice. Once the court proceedings are issued, there are court costs to add to the charges if you are unsuccesful.

But I have already appealed unsuccessfully. The next step options are as per my last post on the thread.

From my two run ins with them pretty sure you have 14 days from the rejection of your appeal to pay the lower amount.

Thanks - I'd better check then, thought it was 28 ... Edit - checked, you're right. 17 days now, confirms my decision to try the other routes previously suggested! [Post edited 3 May 18:19]
