Recruitment: The criteria 17:20 - May 4 with 3018 viewscbower

Any player targetted at this level is bound to possess technical ability, that really goes without saying.
Accepting this as a given, there are four criteria each new player really has to meet for me.
1: a good character and a team player
2: work rate. We will have to play with high intensity. It was noticeable last time around at 65-70 minutes we were shot and games got away from us.
3: Physicality / power. This does not mean a team of 6ft 4 monsters, but rather players who can hold their own in the physical side of the game rather like Matusiwa has shown he can despite being only relatively short in stature. As much as I love the skills of Philogene, Clarke, Mehmeti etc, we cannot afford too many more of their ilk
4: Pace. We really lacked pace last time and it hurt us.

It's a lot to ask for but quality above quantity please. 7 quality recruits would give us more chance that 12 players who promise much but don't hit the buttons.
Of course, some Premiership experience added to that list would be nice a la Xhaka at Sunderland but that really is asking something.

For me, if Boro don't get promotion then we should be back in for Hackney - and welcome him with open arms. I'd be surprised if we don't ask the question about Delap on loan. Yes, there will be others interested...but after a faltering season, we'd be a safe option for him - familiar, a manager he likes etc. I think we'll also be in for Rushworth

nothing wrong with signing 30+ players, as the success of Xhaka shows, but Adam Webster has been injured virtually all year & never plays a full season. The new John Scales?
Agreed we need some players with PL experience though & we'll have to gamble on ones that the more established clubs don't want, like Kalvin Phillips.

Fair enough! I knew Webster had some issues but didn't realise it'd been that bad... I thought he'd make a nice back up to O'Shea and provide some good mentorship in the group - but perhaps too much of a risk then

A crazy suggestion, perhaps, but Núñez has a younger brother who is still a youth player.

He could help his brother get to grips with his English.

Poll: Dickhead "Noun" a stupid, irritating, or ridiculous man.

10-12 new editions I would think. The ones that stay here from this team will be mainly back up I would think apart from O’Shea and maybe Matisuwa. Think the rest are too lightweight or just not up to it. Keep Hirst as third striker. Walton as number 2. Furlong,Davis,Taylor,Greaves,Kipre, Kasey all as back up. I’m not sure about Jaden or Clarke they are both too slight for the Prem , again back up. We need athletic, strong, powerful players. Probably from abroad. Wouldn’t mind a couple of the Senegalese lads, they tore England a new one at times when they played them. Get them before the World Cup though, because they will cost a lot more afterwards when people see what they are about.
