What are the rules around kipre and akpom 19:23 - May 5 with 919 viewsFrimleyBlue

Does there signing count as part of the summer window so cant be sold in the same window? Or do they count as the last window signing so can be sold if we wanted to.

I reckon that they are the last window - as the deal was done then and us signing them was part of the obligation.

However, I'm not certain -

Anybody actually know ?

The important thing for the EPL will be when the registration is transferred - which might not be able to happen until after the window opens (thus could loan but not sell). The contract is a separate thing and not relevant to that rule.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

The fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th, and all accounting activity register in the year defined by those dates.

I don’t know for sure that this means the transfer in counts for 25/26, but I strongly suspect it does since the transaction and therefore signing is for the 25/26 accounts.

Edit: as far as I know there is no rule to prevent you buying and immediately reselling a player anyway. Section V of the rules say that Premier League clubs cannot loan to another Premier League club a player they have acquired in the same transfer window. There is also the limit of being registered to a maximum of 3 clubs, and play for a maximum 2 in a given season.

According to the PL rules a loan is considered a (temporary) transfer of registration. If the agreement says it becomes permanent (by option or obligation) on promotion, I would guess that it is part of this season’s agreement.

It's the registration rather than the finances that are relevant to whether we can sell them though. I suspect they will count as summer 2026 signings as that's when their registration transfers from their current parent club to us on a permanent basis.

Loans are actually handled as (temporary) transfer of registration, so they are registered with us this season. Where there is an agreement that those registrations become permanent on some conditions, as is the case here, I suspect that the registration just becomes permanent, and is never transferred back to the selling club.

The announcements today would seem to support that conclusion, although I don’t know for sure that’s how it works.

I am sure that while they have transferred to us this season, they have only been registered for 2 clubs and played for the allowed 2 clubs at most, next season they will have not represented any other clubs and could transfer on loan/perm wherever we see fit, we just can't transfer them THIS season.
