Prime minister at the next election 06:30 - May 12 with 3599 viewsgtsb1966

IF (they won't) the Labour party manage to get Burnham through the door then they win the next election. If it's Streeting then it's Farage. It really is as simple as that. They have one chance and they'll blow it.

U turns
Backing down on welfare reform
Spending too much money abroad when we need it spent here
Not letting Andy back in as an MP
Just worried about his world image instead of concentrating on our country
Wanting to give the EU billions

Can i ask what you mean by spending too much money abroad?

Starmer has reduced foreign aid budgets, or are you referring to something else?

Nonsensical idea. Sometimes PMs resign as a result of ill health. Should that trigger a General election?

When was last PM who resigned as a result of ill health.

Harold Wilson; before him Harold Macmillan.

And he got the job because Anthony Eden couldn't continue:

'Churchill’s successor Anthony Eden battled with long term health problems, including depression, jaundice and the presence of gallstones, and resigned two years into his premiership in January 1957, after his doctors warned him his life was at stake if he continued in office. He stepped down at the height of the Suez canal crisis, precipitated by the nationalization of the canal by then-Egyptian president Abdul Nasser in July 1956.'

Most people think he was right about The US war of choice... Including Farage, with hindsight.

The economics is near impossible given the world environment, but has been improving. Youngsters unemployment is indeed a massive gfrowing issue. It didnt start with this government though and trhere are policies being announced and put in place to start dealing with it/

People have been told he's awful by their echo chambers.

By what metrics has the economy improved under this government?

Borrowing up
Debt up
Borrowing costs up
Sterling down
Job creation down
Youth unemployment up
Downgraded from expected fastest growth in G7 - due to higher inflation projections than peers
GDP per capita decline.

That’s not to say the useless shower that preceded him weren’t utterly incompetent, but the data for Starmer’s government is pretty grim all round. They’ve implemented policies that have actively stifled growth - and thus we’ve shed jobs faster than anyone in the G7 (who all face the same headwinds).

Let’s at least be objective.

It's going to Farage and all you *very* normal people with *very* reasonable concerns can clap him in with thunderous applause, while I and many other wokie weirdos with family and friends who are disabled, trans, gay or born in another country are very concerned for the future of our loved ones.

Both these options are wrong. They need to got for Angela Rayner.

There's something of an irony when she won't be considered because she used a trust to transfer part of a property to her disabled son, yet Farage can take FIVE MILLION POUNDS worth of hand outs from a crypto bro and be considered in some way more honest...

You know there was growth which is being twotted by the world events right? And that the appalling levels of borrowing over the last 15 years are absolutely screwing us?

Nope. He, like his government, has no principles, vision or ability. They just v wanted to cosplay 1997 and get free tickets to stuff.

It's not 1997.

World that New Labour knew blew up in 2008. It isn't coming back.

Will the Labour right or centrists take responsibility for what they've done? No.

It'll be 18 months of Wes and then we're getting Farage.

Forensic.

Another set of non arguments. Vague allegations and no specifics. Almost as if its a received view from an echo chamber.

Not per capita - nobody benefits from an economy if it’s growing slower than the population (albeit Starmer’s government isn’t the only disingenuous one to ignore that). But you are ignoring the fact that we are fairing so much worse than our peers. We have the fastest rising unemployment rate in the G7. Businesses in the UK have had to face additional employment costs in addition to rising energy costs. Geopolitical events don’t only impact the UK.
