His sisters once performed a concert at the Ipswich Gaumont in the 1980's.

Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

Oops - was confusing him with our former midfield dynamo Jon Nolan.
What a shocking signing he was - we ended up terminating his contract (presumably with a pay-off) & since then he's played 14 games for Bristol Rovers, Tranmere & Macclesfield. Unbelievably, Lambert saw fit to take up an option to extend his contract for a year!

Andy King, who I hadn't remembered died in 2015, was briefly a scout with Town and caretaker-manager at Northampton. He left Town to move to the Cobblers as Aidy Boothroyd's assistant.

Also spotted that one-time world-record transfer Syd Puddefoot managed them, who I was told once gave my grandfather a footballing lesson during a game when they were both in the army.

I wish we had more players these days with names like Syd Puddefoot.
He was transferred for a then world record £5000 (£370k now) from West Ham to Falkirk in 1922. He must have been decent as he scored 229 senior goals in 500 odd games.

Indeed, proper footballer's name! Story went that my grandfather was playing in a game in the army, a trial I think for playing for the regiment or whatever, and was ripped to sheds by the player up against him all match. As he left the field shaking his head, one of the other players told him to cheer up and who he had been playing against.

On a slightly different level, I was playing a college game in a Cup QF years ago. We were winning 2-1 in a tight game with about 10 minutes left & their best player scored 4 goals in 5 minutes to make it 5-2, largely from outpacing our tired back 4 to balls over the top. It was Roy of the Rovers stuff & I later discovered that his guy had been with Leicester City on a pro contract the previous year & hadn't quite made it (or had fallen out with them). It just showed me what a different level players at (or close to) pro standard are at , especially as far a space is concerned.
