Forest want him to replace Anderson (ideal!), and Tottenham, Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Bournemouth have all undertaken scouting work and analysis on Hackney over recent months.

Hackney or not. | | | |

Can tell you right now, we are definitively not going to be able to compete with those teams if they want a player we want. We can sign players they haven't identified (like Leeds with Anton Stach). We can sign players they don't want, trusting that they've misjudged them (like Sunderland with Brian Brobbey). We can sign players that are a bad use of their money but a good use of ours (like Sunderland with Granit Xhaka and Leeds with Dominic Calvert-Lewin). But if we want a player and any of those clubs also meet the asking price, then it'll be game over for that transfer.

Spurs are the 9th richest team on the planet, we are unlikely to be able to compete with them, even if they keep up their rather tight control of their wage budget.

Don’t be ridiculous, we can’t compete with any of them yet

Exactly, if you're Hackney, would you rather join an established mid table PL club or book in for a probably relegation battle with Town, probably with a relegation clause in your contract? Credit to McKenna & the team for nearly recruiting a very good player last summer, but this is a good indication that we will struggle to recruit British players who might keep us up.
