Brian Gayle 14:42 - May 29 with 784 viewssaffers12

Watched the Vinny Jones doc on Netflix, was a good watch.

Brian Gayle was on a few clips, forgot he played for us.

When reminded I thought he was a decent CB, what are other peoples memories of him?

Brian Gayle was a very competent defender. Did a good job for us. I might be wrong, but he moved on because his family was further north,or wanted to move back that way ?

Remember us selling him for a LOT of money (comparatively) about 18 months after we bought him! Very solid, no frills

Me too. As someone else has said he was the kind of player we could do with now.

Not so sure about that. Gayle was an old fashioned centre half, very effective in his day. The English game has moved on & I think he'd be a good Championship player now.

Players adapt to the era that they play in. I played local men's football in 1980 I could kick anything that moved but by the 2000s I had to adapt a little or I would have faced constant suspensions.
