Our signings have to be spot on. I don't believe we can take players on like Ashley Young as part of the squad if they have little or no input.
Yes we need a mix of experience and youth. But experience must also be linked to age and current form.
We took a big risk with Phillips, a player that had a great career at Leeds and moved to Man City where he ended up a bit part player on £150,000 a week and even if we only pay half that amount we cannot have a player injured when he comes in, injured during the season and not really doing it on the pitch even when they do play.
