| VAR for wrongly awarded corners... 22:18 - Jun 14 with 550 views | Trequartista | ...no VAR for wrongly awarded goal-kicks. They keep saying this, but no-one is saying why one is VAR and the other isn't. | |

| VAR for wrongly awarded corners... on 22:40 - Jun 14 with 491 views | EastTownBlue | IFAB would appear to have been more concerned about goals being scored from incorrectly awarded corners as apposed to incorrect goal kicks. The PL have already voted against having this next season. | | | |
| VAR for wrongly awarded corners... on 22:42 - Jun 14 with 476 views | Mark | It doesn't make logical sense. A goal could be scored from a free kick or long throw, but VAR isn't looking at those. | | | |

I don't see the difference in importance between incorrectly awarding a corner that could lead to a goal and incorrectly awarding a goal kick that could otherwise have led to a goal. Notwithstanding that - the technology and the time taken to make the decision are identical. [Post edited 14 Jun 22:49]

That's another point really - one of symmetry - but unless a) you referee all of the game with a human or b) you referee all of the game with a computer then there will always be those discrepancies.

I wonder if we are moving to the latter, where technology and AI will referee the whole match in real time and just feed the decisions into the referee's earpiece to communicate to players and fans.

I would think so, and that works in sports with objective decisions, but football has subjective decisions and that's where it fails for me.

Well quite, the referee is going to start making different decisions to ones they would normally make. I don't think that's happening yet as I've seen several corners not given.
