World Cup 21:10 - Jun 16 with 738 viewsbsw72

I’m just not enjoying it this time around. Watched a lot of games and listened to others on Radio5 but I’m just finding it a little meh. Can’t put my finger on why.

Just me?

I happened to be in the States when it started, came home today...and there's definitely something missing from it. Watching France on the BBC at the moment and its like putting an old favourite pir of slippers on. American commentators are well...American commentators...very grating.

If you’re not enjoying the football we’ve seen so far this tournament then I’d say it’s you that has the issue rather than the tournament itself.

Probably been the most entertaining opening games of any tournament I can recall.

I’m the same. I think it might be because none of these opening games really matter, in that loads of third placed teams will go through

More interested in the fixture list coming out on Friday than watching this tournament.

The games I’ve watched I’ve thoroughly enjoyed them.

It’s The World Cup I can’t see how any football fan wouldn’t enjoy it tbh.

In terms of scorelines yes, but the quality of matches and teams is way down. A 2-2 Iran v NZ might have incident but give me France Senegal any day.

The only Muff in Town.

I think having three co-hosts automatically dilutes the value of the tournament. Highlight so far has been the Scottish fans for Flower of Scotland, drinking Boston dry, and taking over that baseball game. We need more of that.

Three hosts and 48 teams has diluted the quality too much, next round it will get going.

These group games are going to be a bit naff though. 8 3rd places get through so ere isn't too much Jeopardy at the moment.

I've enjoyed some, some not so much. I've not watched a full game since the Mexico game.

Agreed. It’s like the champions league group stages; occasional decent game but everyone’s waiting for the knockout rounds.
