A few years in hotter climates means I learned a bit about maintaining your drinking in the hottest of climates so some top tips....

Alcohol is poison so most sensible option is not to drink (I know...)
Match your beers with water. A bottle of each (or pint of each) is a sensible approach.
Don't mix alcolholic drinks, try and stick with the same tipple.
Take an aspirin and a glass of water before you go to bed. Put by your bed before you go out if you think you'll forget.
Throwing a sickie can get you in trouble, so prepare for tomorrow's sickie by laying the groundwork this afternoon.

If you are ever needing to rehydrate with no access to clean water, buy a bottle of coke and let it go flat.

Is basically water and sugar, add a teaspoon of salt and you'll be good to go.

Got told that by the company doctor before I went to my first overaeas job..

So in Liberia some aid agencies wanted to get some public health messaging out to the public and opted to put leaflets with soft drinks companies knowing it was the most reliable way of getting them into every village no matter how rural.

Coke, beer and Firestone (rubber) were the only businesses that were pretty much fully in tact post war...

Basically water, sugar and a whole lot of chemicals. It's gut rot. I had a friend way back when in my youth who actually got addicted to the stuff. He became ill, funny how he improved when told by his Dr, " keep doing what you're doing and you'll kill yourself " Having said that, I did once in emergency abroad, have to use it to wash my mouth out after brushing my teeth. I don't recommend it!

Resolve powders used to be an excellent 'pick me up' but they seem to have disappeared. I'm still to find a decent substitute (not that I need them much these days).

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

This is my solution, and an antihistamine depending on what I've been drinking.

Professional might be over stating it a bit. I did once end up in hospital with dehydration totally unconnected to alcohol, just good old bit of malaria and the runs.

Those drips are amazing, couple of those and it was like a resurrection tbh
