If you worried about O'Neill being uninspiring (which I'm not btw), this guy makes him look like Jim Carrey.

I think the disappointment will be in not playing to their full potential. Off the field they have been a triumph and it probably hurts the manager as much that the tournament will be losing it's most interesting fanbase due to poor displays on the field of play.
Nobody can deny that as a nation we punch well above our weight.

A lot is made of the fanbase, because the team give the media nothing to talk about.

The Scottish fans have been great, but so have the Dutch, the Brazilians and many others no doubt (the English too).

I don't think Scotland have punched to their weight, let alone above it.

They qualified because its a larger WC, and they still havent managed to make it out of the groups when one win would maybe do it.

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I MEAN ABOUT LOW EXPECTATIONS.

Ignoring population size seems like a huge oversight?
I'm not really sure what your point is, if indeed there is one at all.

Punch above your weight? All I hear is how Celtic and Rangers would walk the PL.

The Norwegians who have a similar population as Scotland, their two biggest clubs (Rosenborg and Molde) have stadiums that hold 21k and 11k respectively.

The attendances Celtic and Rangers get dwarf those, even Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen hold more.

Don't know where this punching above weight comes from.

I’d add that Denmark has a similar sized population to Scotland and are far more successful. I don’t think Scotland punches above its weight at all.

There might have been truth in it decades ago when players like Jardine, Baxter, Dalgleish, Souness, Wark, McGrain were around but not now. They looked laughable bad last night. Because they are.

Yep, to be fair you could find a host of other similarly sized countries that outperform Scotland.

How do you feel Scotland have over achieved?

Look at the other minnows that will likely go through.

I'm not saying Scotland should win it, and I appreciate youre one of the minnows, but I feel they should have at least reached the round of 32.

Wild statement isn't it.

Scotland have won 1 World Cup game since 1990 and that was a 1-0 win against Haiti.

They're absolutely toss.

Think the draw could have been kinder - Morocco and Brazil are officially the 6th and 5th best teams in the world.

The group was a result of Scotlands poor qualifying campaign.

They just needed a 2-3 goal win v Haiti, and 1-0 defeats v the other two.

Thats not high expectations.

I dont think the rankings are that accurate with Morocco at 6.

Erm, what poor qualifying campaign? Scotland topped their (relatively tricky) group, winning 4/6 games.

My bad, I thought the Denmark match was a play off.

To be fair, I dont pay much attention to them.

The responsibility of delivering for Scotland is probably something the English don't understand.
It goes way beyond football and into the darkest corners of our proud history and heritage.

I can understand that. I'm not a Scot by the way. But if you have a manager that leaves the best striker he's got available at home and picks four ahead of him instead, Id say he's asking for trouble and that appears it's exactly what he's got. Add to that flouncing out of interviews because he gets asked very pertinent questions ( not the first or the last to do that, for sure ), then I'm not surprised when a Scottish journalist on Talk Sport posed another question " Who do you think you are? ".
