| Looks like DR Congo in go32 for England 06:10 - Jun 27 with 2455 views | RIPbobby | That is not ideal at all, but I guess it is better than facing Senegal. The African teams are the masters of the low block so it is bound to be a dull match. | | | | |

| Looks like DR Congo in go32 for England on 07:17 - Jun 27 with 2270 views | RIPbobby | I think it was 66% chance of playing 3rd in that group before a ball was kicked, assuming we finish L1. So it appears they just need to win their final match. | | | |

I'm glad I'm not alone in calling them doctor Congo. I have a bit of an affinity for them after a brief spell in charge during my finest ever journeyman career in football manager 21 which ended with back to back to back champions leagues at inter Milan. Wonderful hours wasted on the exit from covid misery.

Had a look at the Athletic's live probability of who we'd play if we top the group. Essentially, it seems that if DR Congo beat Uzbekistan we'll play them in the RO32, if they fail to win then it'll almost certainly be Senegal. Current model says it's a 57% chance it'll be Senegal, 43% chance DR Congo. https://www.nytimes.com/athlet (not sure if this works without a subscription)

Have you not watched any of the African teams this world cup? Watch everyone of their games and see if you notice a pattern, then watch out game against an Ghana team and see if you notice a pattern. Personally I'd rather play a team that tries to beat us and our quality will shine through. When you play a team that doesn't then the percentages become much closer. Very much like ITFC past term. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That is due to points on the table. I'd be very surprised if Dr Congo don't beat Uzbekistan, who are not too much better than isle of wight FC as somebody said.

Some would say Gloria Estefan predicted this match back in the 80s. lol

Senegal is very much not, I'd actually fear for us a bit in that game, especially as we have some knocks in midfield where they are super physical and we will be on shorter rest. You'd hope DRC get it done against Uzbekistan though. England need to win otherwise it's Portugal or Colombia.

Yes I have and they’re all pretty poor. 4-0 v Congo.
