A dirty South American side, sh1thosuing their way through the match, against a European side using more sly diving and play acting tactics. Then seeing the sanctimonious pundits getting their knickers in a twist to round it off. Great entertainment. [Post edited 5 Jul 12:41]

I wasnt alive in the 70's, sounds great though. No one was even close to getting injured in that match. Although I was worried about the France player who got brushed on the shoulder and injured his face. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

As the game went on though, it just got silly and farcical. There was no established threshold from the referee and the antics just escalated. Once France scored, that was it. Paraguay had nothing else but to then just kick out. I always root for the underdog but I can't say they will be missed.

It did get a bit farcical towards the end, I'll give you that. France were pretty poor, but the right team did win. Would have loved to have seen an upset though.

Saw the first half and agree with your first paragraph. It was funny. Nodded off at half time and only saw the last few minutes. By then the comedy farce was in full swing. The ref lost it and so did the Paraguay players.

A shame actually, as I'd like to see the general quality of the refereeing in the tournament bought to the PL and EFL. Some hope with the likes of Michael Oliver dishing out cards in the Canada/Morocco game like confetti fluttering in a breeze, and in some cases for " fouls " that weren't even fouls, never mind bookings.
