Just before Gary O'Neill was appointed, there were reports coming out of France that we were favourites to agree a deal for the young St Etienne striker, Lucas Stassin. This seemed to be in line with Mark Ashton's comments at the time, that we were well down the road with some potential signings. It was linked to on here & it was also covered by the EADT. But of course we haven't heard a word about him since & we now have Emersonnn (yeah I've put on another 'n') in the door. Maybe it was online reporters making up content, or his agent trying to drum up interest for a big money move, but I liked the look of him & thought he very much fit the profile of someone we would be interested in. He is different to Emersonnn, a cleaner striker of the ball & dare I say a better finisher based on the available footage of them both, but probably not as strong in the air & when using his chest with his back to goal. If there was something in it, I would still like us to be interested, as I think they could play off each other as a pair, as well as doing the lone front man role. I don't disagree with the suggestion of us needing an experienced striker, like as a Wilson or Jiminez, but this 21 year Belgian does look like a good player.
Think we will get another striker but with a little Premier league or European knockout experience like Flemming at Burnley.

11 goals last season in a relegation bound team, plus 29 in the Eredivsie. Been linked with Brentford, Everton, Leeds, Coventry and Town, but our interest seems relatively low in comparison.
I'm wondering if we are targeting players more in the Calum Wilson mould in terms of level of experience.
