Anyone else watching the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship on BBC2? 15:46 - Jul 19 with 1240 viewsHugoagogo_Reborn

I thought Aussie Rules was baffling, but this is even more confusing. It's thoroughly entertaining, though. 😁

Stick the sliotar/ball in the goal for 3 points or over the bar for 1. That's about it, argh, and only tinkers support Limerick

How are you supposed to tackle someone who's running while holding a small ball in their hand? Smash them in the face with the big stick you're holding!?

Croke Park is almost a great looking arena. Do the Irish only build lop-sided stadiums? Similar to Lansdown Road in that the fourth side is a bit pathetic by comparison with the other three. If they're hemmed-in in both cases, then it seems an epic planning permission fail.

They can only carry it in their hand for four steps before transferring to the hurl. This when you can get in and dislodge the sliotar ( ball ). Limerick have been doing tat very well and getting a lot of men around the player in possession.

Watch for the hooking as the ball is struck.

I always thought they should have changed the orientation when the old Lansdown road stadium was demolished.

Hill 16 is the standing only area of Croke Park and is great that it has been retained in modern times. It is still by far the highest capacity stadium in Ireland.

Boys versus men.

Things getting worse with the Galway red card.

Since you mentioned it was on, I did. Limerick just far too strong.

I'll definitely watch the next one. It's super high intensity and I enjoyed it.

I got quite into Aussie Rules when I was over there. The players must be super fit.

Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

I watched a game when I last visited Perth. Agree that the athleticism is impressive.

I'll always give watching a new sport a good go. That's how I started enjoying Rugby Union.

I'd put my back out and was laying on the sofa, couldn't reach the remote, and subsequently watched New Zealand win the Rugby World Cup in 2011. πŸ˜‚

You should check out combined rules.

I'm pretty sure the officials and players don't really know what the rules are.

It's great to watch though!

That's a makie up sport. Amateur players against professionals. Was designed to give the amateurs a trip to Oz so the good ones could be harvested for Aussie rules. Gaelic football is nowhere near the speed or skill of Hurling. Koby McDonald the latest Gaelic Football wonder kid is turning professional after the All Ireland Football final.

Sorry, wasn't meant to be a direct comparison, just another thing I've enjoyed watching in the past, mainly for the randomness.
