I do think Darren Jones has been harshly treated but what he has done comes across as vindictive.

And just look at the main headline in the Mail.

The big day 1 policy is to 'save' the average household less than a pound a week on energy, except that it isn't funded and will be swamped by other things.

Let's hope Burnham doesn't use all his political capital in the first two months like Starmer did.

Some good news.

"Shares in defence companies have risen sharply after Andy Burnham appointed John Healey as chancellor, with investors hoping the former defence secretary will use his new position to increase defence spending."

"You'll see kidney machines replaced by rockets and guns"

I'm surprised he made Healey Chancellor. He resigned on principle a few weeks ago about insufficient funding for defence, if he doesn't immediately now fund it to the levels he was demanding he looks stupid. Basically it then appears it had nothing to do with principles and all about stabbing Starmer in the back

This also strikes me as weakness on the part of Burnham.

If he wanted to be a touch radical, he ought to have been braver and appointed Miliband.

Instead, he seems to have opted for what seems a "safe" option.
