Can he play up front?

Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

More of a left winger, but he can play in the centre when needed.

No.

Another farce imposed upon us.

Saying all the right things but factionalism will pick his chancellor.

He's making the right noises and has made a decent start in committing to scrap the ID Card plans.

My wife doesn't like him, she said something to the effect of that he looked a bit smarmy...

Think I've heard that said of someone else who then produced 3 of the most enjoyable years out of the last 20

Just wonder how long before the twitter bots start accusing him of using drugs / rent boys or whatever other smear crsp they come up with

It’s going to become very difficult when he has to start cutting spending across a number of departments with a skin deep support from his MPs.

it's impossible to know yet since he hasn't said anything so far that goes beyond waffle. but i don't doubt his intent.

this is it, essentially the only way to fix this situation is to either dramatically punish the weakest in society and cut benefits, or introduce a wealth tax.

I think we all know what option they're going to go for...

Maybe.

I imagine, like every recent politician, it will all be focused on the short term whilst ignoring the iceberg field we're heading for.

The Tories have been great for us haven’t they?

Sold off everything on the cheap to their city chums which is why the necessities of life are all so expensive

I agree, so wouldn't it be disastrous if a Labour government continued down that path?

I think I read he is to increase foreign aid which will cost the country an additional £16bn

Based on that alone I'd say he's a dangerous man

Odd first policy announcent, looking to end rough sleeping in London because it feels like he's given Nige and Kemi an open goal after pledging to do that in Manchester by 2020 and failing. The numbers did come down a lot but have risen for the last 4 years albeit not quite so much as some parts of the country.

Perhaps trying to endear himself to us southerners but I would've picked something more achieveable.

Anyway, let's see what he's got.

Of course, he won’t be doing that will he.

Help with the cost of living crisis, bringing utilities into public ownership, a big council house building programme, helping young people to get jobs and with their mental health. Not bad aims on day 1 are they?

We aren’t getting a radical left wing government which is a pity, but it’s got to be better than the alternatives surely? (even with Mahmood in no 11)

It's a good holistic viewpoint to take.

Foreign Aid comes with so many tangible and intangible benefits, ranging from the global reputation of UK PLC, to the UK not having to bear the brunt of issues and incidents that have been resolved or prevented thanks to the investment in Foreign Aid.

The best example I can think of is if you live in a terraced house, and your neighbour's house has some serious issues going on that will definitely affect your house if left unchecked. They can't afford to do anything about it, but you certainly have the means to help them out without massively impacting your financial position. You're under no obligation to contribute to the cost of works, but it's certainly in your interest to do so.

Reducing/removing Foreign Aid is one of those lovely quick 'red meat' wins for Farage and his ilk, but it's a very short term view that trades populism off against the longer-term impact.
