Are we in better shape this time round with the signings up to now?
Delap was a big one as he was the main goal threat. He was to come back for another go as the main striker, then you never know. I am not advocating the return of Delap per se, but those 10 - 15 goals are vital to keep us in the league if our only objective is to finish above the bottom 3.

Impossible to tell yet. Delap, Hutchinson, O'Shea, Clarke have all be great signings.Others not so. Will have to wait until the end of the window to compare.
That said, it looks increasingly likely that we're signing a higher calibre of player, with more top league experience than in the summer of '24. |  |

So it's really a question as to whether Delap, Hutchinson were better business than Emersonn, Diop, Fatawu, Van Oevelen? At the time, I don't think Hutchinson was further along in his development than Fatawu is and Delap's prior season in the Championship probably of lesser standing than Emersonn's in Ligue Un.
Think you could make a strong case that our squad is *already* stronger than it was at the end of the 2024 Summer window (as it should be, we've had 3 and a bit transfer windows since then). |  |

Picking up a young striker who hits double figures on his first try at the PL is a difficult trick to pull off once, twice would be miraculous. For sure likely that Emersonn won't hit the kind of numbers Liam Delap did. | |

I think Azor has a big role to play. I'm not sure he is an every week starter tbh. Would be worried by his ability on the ball and his mobility. If we get Morita (who I like) in I would still want 2 in.

Getting good at set pieces with Delap and Diop being menaces would only be a good thing.
