| Players we signed last time we went up 13:19 - Jul 22 with 1180 views | WolfieAtTheBack | In order below were the signings, some were loans of course. Are we in better shape this time round with the signings up to now? Delap was a big one as he was the main goal threat. He was to come back for another go as the main striker, then you never know. I am not advocating the return of Delap per se, but those 10 - 15 goals are vital to keep us in the league if our only objective is to finish above the bottom 3. Ben Johnson Omari Hutchinson Jacob Greaves Liam Delap Arijanet Muric Conor Townsend Kalvin Phillips Sammie Szmodics Chiedozie Ogbene Jack Clarke Dara O'Shea | | | | |

Will have to wait until the end of the window to compare. That said, it looks increasingly likely that we're signing a higher calibre of player, with more top league experience than in the summer of '24.

| Players we signed last time we went up on 13:40 - Jul 22 with 892 views | jayessess | Still got Johnson, J. Clarke, O'Shea, Greaves involved. Ogbene, Szmodics aren't good enough to continue with us. Muric, Townsend, Phillips are no loss. So it's really a question as to whether Delap, Hutchinson were better business than Emersonn, Diop, Fatawu, Van Oevelen? At the time, I don't think Hutchinson was further along in his development than Fatawu is and Delap's prior season in the Championship probably of lesser standing than Emersonn's in Ligue Un. Think you could make a strong case that our squad is *already* stronger than it was at the end of the 2024 Summer window (as it should be, we've had 3 and a bit transfer windows since then). | |

Delap on a season long loan to get us 10-15 goals and we have a decent chance. This Emmerson might be brilliant, we just don't know, he is a real wildcard and looking forward to seeing him destroy Sunderland.

We really need a PL ready midfielder that can play 90 mins week in week out to work with Azor, Is Azor to this standard, he could well be once he gets his eye in.

Picking up a young striker who hits double figures on his first try at the PL is a difficult trick to pull off once, twice would be miraculous. For sure likely that Emersonn won't hit the kind of numbers Liam Delap did.

I think Azor has a big role to play. I'm not sure he is an every week starter tbh. Would be worried by his ability on the ball and his mobility. If we get Morita (who I like) in I would still want 2 in. One of them probably a big money signing.

Getting good at set pieces with Delap and Diop being menaces would only be a good thing. Diop scored a great header against Holland at the world cup.
