It's not far from me and I know people who have won races, but never been myself. Largely because it creates a massive traffic jam and you can't get within miles of the location.
Plus I can't afford injuries which would prevent me working.
I did something similar once in Tesco. Upon picking up one of those small string bags containing babybel cheeses, there was a hole in the bag and one babybel rolled for freedom across the floor with me chasing it. Thankfully it was a short race, which I won, and the rogue babybel was returned to the string bag, which itself was returned to the shelf and I selected a different one.

I have watched it once.... it's a right tinker to get to, park and find somewhere to watch from.
The day actually has 5 races, 2 uphill and 3 down
The uphills are very slow and a bit dull to watch
I think the downhills were Juniors, Womens and Open to All ( Mens) iirc
All the Gloucester Rugby Club squad form a safety corden at the end of the course to stop the downhill racers from crashing in to an inconveniently-placed farmhouse
Air Ambulance is on stand-by
You need to be unhinged, drunk or preferably both to take part in either the up or down events

Its in our terms and conditions that you have yo do this event at least once. You saying you lied when you signed up???
I used to live around there and went mountain biking - looking down from the top of cheeserollers hill was terrifying, worse than the steepest black run. You would have to be mental to do it.

Coopers Hill.
Its difficult to find a pic that shows just how steep it is, this is the best I could find.
